Description: From waste management to resources administration: Proposals with a circular economy approach to improve the city´s waste management system. The project team conducted field research, analysis and mapping of the current status of recyclable materials flows in Buenos Aires including the informal streams, and developed short, medium and long-term proposals for the city to facilitate a transition to a circular economy waste management system.

Description: Consulting project to address key environmental issues associated with the Liniers Cattle Market operations. As a result the Capstone Team developed a comprehensive Manure Management System comprising three primary strategies aimed to make market operations more efficient, reduce the solid and liquid waste from being discharged into the Cildañez stream and tighten policy regulations that are either currently not in place or unenforced.

Windows from Recycled Plastic Bottles

Description: Project developed the NGO TECHO, in which we researched and developed alternatives to replace the windows used by them in the houses that they build in slums. After 8 months, we generated a special material for the windows, that was made using plastic bottles.

The first 70 recycled windows were used in the construction of 23 houses located in a humble neighborhood near La Matanza, Argentina. The families helped with the construction and were grateful. From now on, TECHO’s windows are sustainable, 100% recycled and 100% recyclable.

Organization: Padrinos Escuelas Rurales Quitilipi, Chaco (Godparents of Rural Schools in Quitilipi, Chaco)

Date: 2000 - 2006

Description: Active participation in group of professors, students and alumni from high school that sponsored two rural schools in the Chaco, one of the poorest areas in Argentina. Every year, a group of 50 volunteers from 13 to 70 years-old visits the communities and lives in the school for a week. The volunteers bring food and supplies and work in the facilities; but more importantly, they share the life of these rural communities visiting their homes and providing support to their needs.

Description: Organic and Fair Trade Certified cotton have been successfully adopted into 6% of L-Brands apparel and the management team is considering expanding the combination equal to 50% with conventionally sourced cotton. This paper identifies current trends in price and consumer desire through a literature review and a revealed preference survey to derive a reasonable market expectation for organic or Fair Trade Certified intimate apparel. A cost-benefit analysis (CBA) was then constructed using the company’s 2013 performance and considers multiple primary costs and benefits for the L Brands shareholders
